Cathedral project concept art

So for the cathedral project, we went with the fisherman in the fog sound clip. These are some concept ideas from last term after a bit of library exploration.

Animals in motion aka a bunch of scribbles

First Walk Cycle

Whoot, my first walk cycle from the previous term.  Had some trouble with making the character look like he was walking continuously on one spot, and the motion of his arms is a bit shaky. Still, I quite like it :)

Well, here's my final experimental piece. I used mosaic tiles as my chosen medium which is fiddly, but fun. The premise is that these are the final memories of a man who is on death-row.

Thursday, 1 March 2012

For this weeks task we were supposed to animate a character throwing a slightly heavy object. I went for a sack-like object. I need to work on making sure that the position of my character on the page is consistant, and I also learnt about the significance of anticipation and how the power of the throw is generated by the body shifting backwards and not to draw to many frames for the throw itself. Once again issues with timing have crept in, but next time I will plan out the key positions and film myself doing the action in order to reduce this. All in all I am pleased with thuis, and hopefully will take away some useful tidbits of knowledge from this exercise.

lifting a weight

In this exercise we were supposed to animate a character lifting up a heavy object. I enjoyed hand drawing this, although next time I need to improve on continuity (the character's head kept on changing sizes). Furthermore, I know that I need to work on the timing of the character's actions, as some of the movements were quite jumpy and a little too fast. Still, I had fun doing this :)

Animatic

This is my animatic for the storyboarding project. I ended up going with the Ranger Rick script. I'm quite pleased with it, although next time I think I need to improve on the timing and the continuity of some of the shots.
